Welthian/Welthean occurs very rarely in the 18^th century genealogical records of England and the US.  Its meaning and origin are unknown although there is a suggestion that it is Welsh.  It is remotely possible that the name may be a corruption of "Welsh-woman" but there is no authority for this suggestion.
