Notes:

English. Latin feminine form of Christianus and hence the learned form of Christian. Used in old documents in Latin; used as a forename mainly in medieval times although there has been recent revival in its use as a given name in its own right [ONC]; also for the spelling variant Christianna.

It is a reasonably frequent occurrence in the 1841 Census of Aberdeenshire, with a few infrequent spelling variations which will be found with Soundex searches. This spelling, with appropriate case endings, was the normal rendering of Christian [female] in older Latin documents.

Note: many old documents and some later ones replaced the first five letters with the letter X i.e. Xtiana.
