"Scottish Forenames" - Donald Whyte, FGH, FSG
Notes:

Scottish and English. Very popular in Scotland and other parts of the English-speaking world. Its recent use stems from the surname, being a sobriquet for a Scotsman, especially a Gaelic speaker.  However Scott did exist as a forename from pre-Norman times. It is very rare in the 1841 Census of Aberdeenshire.

Scot is a very rare spelling.
