An Australian correspondent [DT] has noted the frequent and widespread use of this spelling of Eileen [q.v.] in Australian Pioneers Indexes in the 19^th and early 20^th centuries.

One child's 1869 birth and 1875 death records in the Victoria, Australia Pioneers Index show her name as Ideen but we believe that this could be a transcription mis-reading of "Ileen" floridly written by the same Registrar.
