The use of Glenn as a female name is believed to be recent, probably dating from the early 20^th century. Later in that century it occurred more frequently due to the popularity of the American singer-actress Glenn Close, born 1947. A correspondent [Gw] with the same forename was born in 1938 so this usage certainly predates the star's popularity.
