Scottish variant of Euphemia [q.v.], from a Late Greek name representing "fair speech".

A private correspondent [ID²], researching Scottish roots, has found instances of Eupham with uncertain gender, but mostly female. Donald Whyte gives it as a variant spelling of Euphame, itself a diminutive of Euphemia. We have been unable to find any other authority on the name.
