A spelling variant of the Jewish name Bashemath [q.v.].

A correspondent [JMacG] sent this extract from the 1815 Sassines for Nairn in Morayshire, Scotland:

"Bashimath Smith, spouse of Andrew Barber, farmer at Little Rillie seized in a tenement with a house thereon, Auldearn, under burden of £40...".

The name was also spelt Bashemoth later in the same extract.
