Notes:

English form of the French Aimée, "loved" or "beloved".

Amia was a Latinised version of Amy/Aimée, used in old documents.

In Scotland Amy is synonymous with Emily presumably due to its phonetic similarity with the first two syllables of Aemilia from which Emily is derived.  However the origin of the names is quite different.
