English, derived from or a short form of Elizabeth [q.v.], from an ancient Hebrew name meaning "oath of God".

The Gaelic version of Bethia/Bathia is Elisaid which is also the Gaelic of Elisabeth/Elizabeth which are therefore additionally classed here as lesser synonyms.
